The Pentagon

The Pentagon
The Pentagon is a tool for enabling every believer to recognize his or her worth and how to contribute to the building up of the body of Christ. The five fold ministries are apostle, prophet, teacher, evangelist, pastor.

Ephesians 4:11- 13
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Teacher
One who grasps Truth, is excited by it and who holds it out for others to receive. The teacher provokes others to explore truth.
Enjoys:
• reading and studying the Bible
• helping others understand the truth
Words that describe a teacher:
• Trains, coaches, instructs, changes and enlightens

The Teacher in everyday life:
• Lecturer, trainer, coach, demonstrator.. teacher!

Pastor
One who shepherds the people, cares for others with a tender heart, sees needs. They confront as well as encourage. Pastors long to see Christians grow to their full potential.

They can easily empathize with others and stimulate them to care.
Words that describe a pastor:
• Caring, sensitive, loving, confronting, supporting

The Pastor in everyday life:
• counselor, parent, social worker, nurses, life coach

Evangelist
Evangelist means “bearer of Good News”
One who brings good news and shares the message readily. Evangelists seek out and love spending time with non Christians. They know the gospel and make it relevant to non Christians. They provoke other Christians in their witness and give them boldness.
Enjoys:
• building relationships beyond the church
• sharing their point of view
• encouraging others to witness
Words that describe an evangelist:
• Enthusiastic, people gatherer, persuading

The evangelist in everyday life:
• Salesman, enthusiastic story teller, journalist

Prophet
One who hears and listens to God, foretelling and telling forth revelation from God

They understand the time and what people should do. They provoke others to encounter with God and listen to him
Prophets enjoy:
• being alone with God,
• waiting on God
• listening to God
Words that describe a prophet:
• Waiting, retreating, seeking God’s heart

The prophet in everyday life:
• Visionaries, futurists, people who speak out their perceptions, often the creative types

Apostle
“Apostle” comes from the Greek work “apostolos” meaning “one who is sent out”
The apostle is visionary and pioneering. They might plant or establish new churches. They provoke others to seek vision and start new things.
The apostle enjoys:
• dreaming dreams and making them happen
• strategizing
Words that describe an apostle:
• Imagines, strengthens, initiates, excites, envisions others
The apostle in everyday life:
• Entrepreneurs, explorers, business minded people like Bill Gates
